Arapaho National Forest Activation (K-4400)

I woke up about 5:27 am to about 35°F outside with a slight windchill of 32°F at 9428 feet in elevation. Slept great. Wool blankets are toasty.

Made coffee and tea and a banana for breakfast. Earl set and made a few voice contacts on the 20m band. I set up a 76-foot-long speaker wire in a tree & tuned it up and started making FT8 digital contacts around 9:15 local time.

Australia was hearing my 20 watts of radiated power at -10db! Not too bad for 8940.5 miles away!!! Had 20 contacts on the mid-morning shift.

We took a break and charged the Bioenno battery back up and the computer off of solar power.

Made some taco rice for lunch and figured out what we wanted to do afterward.

Decided to put up the delta loop on the 20m band and give it a whirl. Earl started off the afternoon shift of his 2nd activation of K-4400 for POTA. The Delta Loop is doing great. He got 30 contracts in about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Finally called it quits around 5 p.m. local time. I had 31 contacts and Earl had 30 contacts for the day. Not too bad.

2,042,295.57 miles traveled through the airwaves

8,986.45 miles away was the farthest contact
