My wife and I needed to get out of the house, so I suggested a little adventure—drive to a POTA park we’d never visited before and activate it.
We headed to Wire Road State Conservation Area, which isn’t too far from home, but it’s in a direction we don’t normally go. I set up and managed to make 12 contacts on FT8 while we enjoyed being somewhere new.
Afterward, we took the backroads home and enjoyed the scenery along the way.
It was a simple outing, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need—a change of scenery, a little radio, and a chance to get out of the normal routine. It turned out to be a great day.
