This Pennsylvania pouch is inspired by an example from the Longhunters Sketchbook. The original piece featured a much plainer flap—no cutouts or fraktur tulips—relying instead on simple pinked scallops along the top and welt for its only decoration.
With this pouch, I chose to take the design a step further in refinement. The flap is enhanced with cutouts and subtle burnished lines along the bellows, adding depth and character while still respecting the original form.
The body and strap are constructed from cowhide, while the trim and red cutouts are done in goat hide for contrast. The strap is fitted with a hand-forged buckle and keeper. Inside, the pouch is lined with red linen and includes a small, lined pocket for keeping smaller items secure.
